Due to the occasion (flooding at the beginning of June 2024)
Rain or precipitation not only influences agriculture, vegetation and culture, but also the local climate. Of course, the frequency and amount of precipitation depends on this.
Snow, hail, heavy rain and a lack of precipitation can lead to disasters. These include, for example, destroyed habitats, floods and droughts. It is therefore important to know in which areas it has rained and how much. Long-term trends and possible patterns can thus be identified.
Decisions can then be made regarding climate change and water management.
But even in the short term, knowledge of the precipitation that has fallen can help us to predict imminent flooding in good time and take countermeasures.
Countermeasures/precautions can be:
- Seal windows/doors
- Switch off electrical appliances and heaters
- Do not enter garages and cellars
- Stack sandbags if necessary
- Move valuables to a safe place
- Go to higher floors
- Follow the emergency services
